Painting is my passion, I tend to create without too much of a plan, only a colour suggestion, what emerges is a bold, vibrant contemporary abstract filled with energy, emotion and strength. I am inspired to express myself with the use of line, colour and freedom. I like to take chances. My style has grown and developed and my paintings have been described as very bold and powerful - I am enthralled by such artists as Lee Krasner, Joan Mitchell, Rose Masterpol and Helen Frankenthaler.
bio—
I was born and raised in Toronto, like many artists I showed an interest in art early on but my education did not go in that direction and I became a Kindergarten teacher.
For the last thirty years we have lived in Waterloo and throughout those years I have taken painting classes. It wasn't until we started going to Sarasota Florida in the winter months that I discovered abstract art. I enrolled in classes at The Sarasota Art Center and have taken classes for the last ten years.
Most of my art is acrylic on canvas or board. I do work with oil stick, collage , crayon and charcoal. I have sold and displayed in many shows in Florida and have won several awards.
